FuboTV vs Sling

When it comes to TV, you have a lot of options. You can watch your favorite shows live or on-demand with a cable subscription, but this option can cost you upwards of $100 a month.

You can also watch TV on your computer or mobile device with a service like Netflix. However, going this route won’t give you the option to watch live TV or any sports programming.

If you want all the benefits of both traditional and streaming TV, look no further than FuboTV and Sling. These two services are great for anyone who loves sporting events, movies, and network television without having to pay for expensive cable packages.

Fubo vs Sling – Bottom Line Up Front:

I’m a big fan of both services. But if you’re on a budget, Sling is definitely the most affordable between the two. That said, if you want 4K streaming, plenty of sports, and you’ve got the extra money to spend, FuboTV offers a lot of bang for your buck.

So, which one is better for you? Understandably, not everyone can afford to subscribe to every streaming service under the sun, so you need to research and compare your options to see which one suits you better.

But that takes time — time you might not have. But fear not; I’ve done all the legwork for you, so you can easily compare FuboTV vs Sling. Moreover, I’ll also share some essential factors that will help you decide which streaming service is right for you.

fubo vs sling

The Main Differences between FuboTV and Sling

FuboTV and Sling TV are two popular streaming services that give you access to live TV with some cable-like benefits. However, there are some notable differences, such as:

  • FuboTV offers a wide variety of sports content in all of its plans, whereas you have to pay extra for your sports fix with Sling.
  • FuboTV offers 4K streaming, whereas Sling does not.
  • Sling has affordable packages, whereas FuboTV is pricier than most streaming services.

So, which service is right for you? To answer this question, you need to know two very important pieces of information: price and channel lineup. Depending on your budget, one may be more important than the other.

Therefore, let’s break down each service individually to give you a better grasp of what they entail. I’ll then show you some side-by-side comparison data to help make your decision easier.

What Do You Get with FuboTV?

sling vs fubo

FuboTV’s Starter package costs $64.99 a month. This gets you an impressive 113 channels (with over 130 4K events), 250 hours of Cloud DVR storage, and the ability to watch three screens at once via the Family Share feature.

For an additional $5 a month, you can bump up your plan to the Pro package. So for $69.99, FuboTV Pro delivers the same channel lineup but adds Unlimited Screens (10 at home) and 1,000 hours of Cloud DVR storage.

Looking for even more channels? The Elite package costs $79.99 a month and includes Fubo Extra, which adds 45 channels for a total of 158. You still get over 130 4K events, 1,000 hours of Cloud DVR storage, and Unlimited Screens.

Finally, there’s Latino Quarterly. For $33 a month, you can get three months of top-rated Spanish TV channels — 33, in fact. There are over 100 sports events included, as well. And, you get 250 hours of Cloud DVR storage and Family Share.

Oh, and did I mention Latino Quarterly comes with CONMEBOL y Más? I suspect that this will be a big selling point for many users, as it includes live and on demand Lucha Underground (wrestling), music, and movies from Mexico, Spain, and other countries.

FuboTV Add-Ons

I like that FuboTV gives its users additional options to choose from. Not pleased with your current package? Select an add-on and enjoy boosted or additional features.

Let’s look at what you can choose in each add-on category.

Feature Upgrades Cost per Month
Cloud DVR 250 $9.99
Cloud DVR 1000 $16.99
Family Share $5.99
Unlimited Screens $9.99
Premium Add-Ons Cost per Month
SHOWTIME + STARZ + EPIX $19.99
SHOWTIME $10.99
STARZ $8.99
EPIX $5.99
AMC Premiere $4.99
Channel Add-Ons Cost per Month
Sports Plus with NFL RedZone $10.99
NBA League Pass $28.99
Fubo Extra $7.99
International Sports Plus $6.99
Adventure Plus $4.99
Sports Lite $9.99
Latino Plus $19.99
RAI Italia $8.99
TV5MONDE $9.99
Portuguese Plus $14.99
Entretenimiento Plus Monthly $4.99
Entretenimiento Plus Quarterly $24.99/qtr

That’s a pretty nice list of extra content at your fingertips. And like other streaming services, you aren’t tied down to a contract. You can cancel anytime you please, and the same is true for the add-on options.

If you try an add-on and find that you don’t like it, simply request to have it taken off of your account. I like that the channel add-ons give you plenty of additional content to watch.

For example, let’s look at NBA League Pass. For $28.99 a month, you can watch as many as 40 games a week that are typically out of the market. If you’re an NBA fan, this is a must-have addition to your channel lineup.

If you love sports in general, the Sports Plus with NFL RedZone add-on delivers a wide variety of sports programs for one low price.

And you’re not just limited to sports packages. Fubo Extra, for example, gives you another 45 channels, including the likes of ESPNEWS, NickToons, FXM, PeopleTV, and more.

So as you can see, FuboTV is a homerun when it comes to sports and traditional TV. But how does it compare to Sling? Let’s explore it next to see what it offers.

What Do You Get with Sling?

sling vs fubo

Sling is known as one of the most affordable streaming services available, which might appeal to you if you’re on a strict budget. I like Sling because it’s a solid package regardless of which one you go with.

When you decide to go with Sling, you get to choose between two plans: Orange and Blue. Each plan costs $35, or you can get both for $50. Orange gives you a total of 32 channels, while Blue includes 43. Moreover, each has its own exclusive channels.

If you choose Blue, for example, you get the Disney Channel, among others. So it’s a good idea to explore each channel lineup to ensure you choose a package that suits your needs.

Like FuboTV, you can select add-ons with Sling. I appreciate that you don’t have to spend much to get extra content. If you’re a sports fan, Sports Extra should serve you well. It’s only $11 a month, and you get various sports channels for either plan.

But it’s important to note that the Sports Extra channels are different depending on whether you’re on the Orange plan or Blue plan. The Orange plan Sports Extra add-on gets you 14 sports channels, while the Blue Sports Extra gets you 12.

The Comedy Extra add-on is just $6 a month and gives you an additional 11 channels to your lineup.

Kids Extra is also $6 a month and includes five more kid-friendly channels, such as NickToons and duckTV.

If you’re looking for more news networks, the News Extra add-on gives you ten additional channels on the Orange plan and 15 additional channels on the Blue plan. Some of the channels include NewsMaxTV, NewsNation, RT America, and CNBC, just to name a few.
